Why can't Websites be as easy as Blogs?

Today I spent way too much time updating my website. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as I haven't done it since JULY! While it's not nearly as easy as a blog (click, click and you're done), I am very happy that I don't have to rely on someone else to do the work.

While my website has lots of photos (very important to showcase lots of dolls), it's pretty rudimentary overall. IF I had all the time in the world, I think it might be fun to take an actual class on website design.

Now that I've done as much as I can do on the website, I'm going to try to get more done on my 3rd Averill doll while my grandson naps. Next, is stuffing and inserting beads into her hands and feet - then I can use some of my specially mixed acrylic paint to give her fingernails and toenails. I recently found it's much easier to match the paint to the fabric skin tone by painting a swatch on the lower hip area, as the paint darkens a little as it dries, and it's not in an area that'll be seen when the doll is done.

I've also got to give her some facial features. She'll be the only blue-eyed doll of the 4.

Hi Deanna,

Making dolls & babysitting! It can't get any better than that! Your favorite subjects I'm sure.

I just finished teaching two 5 week long clay sculpture & design classes at the museum & won't be back to teach until the end of Jan.2011. Nice break for me & my own artwork time here at home.

I'm heading to the big 3-day show at our cultural center & art museum this weekend. We have over 100 juried artists from all over the USA setting up their booths now. I used to sell my work there too but it's more work than I have time for anymore. I could easily see your dolls there. They are fantastic.

It's called Christkindl Mart, held in Canton, Oh., every year at this time. The second weekend of Nov. There's also entertainment for the entire family. Plenty of food too.
You can probably look it up on the Internet & see what all is offered.

Well, my stepson just informed us that his wife is pregnant with twins. Their first babies, due in late April. They live in Boston, quite a distance from us. Maybe we'll see the twins by next summer. Very excited for them!

I'll let you get back to what you were doing now. Thanks for sharing your creations! You are so talented.

Molly

Hi Deanna,
Websites can be as easy to update as blogs. I design websites and most of the time I recommend to use wordpress as a content management system to update everything behind the scene. The site can look how you like it to be designed (nothing resembling the overall look of a blog for example), but in the inside you would create posts as usual instead of using html as you are doing now. If you want a more in deep explanation of what you can do to facilitate your updating process, please let me know. I've seen all your images all the time, specially the set that explains the cloth over clay process!
