This is Sonia. She was going to be witch for Halloween this year (a Good Witch), but as it's November 11, it seems I'm a holiday behind.
I used my Averill pattern, with an alternate cloth-covered clay face. Her body and limbs are from craft velour. I made her skirt a little longer, altered her vest pattern, and gave her a purple coat/duster. Her hair is Tibetan lamb, dyed. She doesn't look much like a witch any more, but she could be one if she wanted.
FANTASTIC!!!
ReplyDeleteAs with all your work.
Hugs,
~Nat
She is too pretty to be a witch, well... she could be a pretty witch, she is perfect, I love the colors.

Hi Deanna, she is lovely but too sweet for a witch. She is the perfect thanksgiving doll though, with those colors and costume, very pilgrim-like!
ReplyDeleteHi Deanna,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Patti...she could be a wonderful Pilgrim doll! She is really beautiful (along with all the other dolls you create). I am so impressed with your talent. ~~Angela
Deanna,Sonia is so very beautiful! She definitely looks like a good witch-maybe an Herbalist.I can just see her in her Gypsy caravan, with all of her roots, and plants and jars!I love her!You do stunning work!

She's beautiful - a very benign witch - a herbalist.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sending the 'Verity' pattern - I've read it through & can't wait to get started! Maybe this weekend I'll find some time.
Cheers,
Susie
She's beautiful!

Thanks everyone! Yup, she's a benign witch - probably a midwife. Certainly the go-to person in the village when anyone is sick or hurt, and knows all the healing properties of plants and herbs.

Deanna -- when you say 'alternate cloth covered clay face' do you mean you altered the mold for Averill's face, or did an entirely different one?
ReplyDeleteI finished a doll based on your Averill just a few days ago. I'm pretty happy with the way she turned out, except for the juncture between the side of the face and the stump.

Deanne I absolutely love your dolls, they are all awesome. Great works of ART each of them. Hugs,Kat Lees
ReplyDeleteI really love the look of this witch. Especially that you used the Averil pattern. I may have to try one too. Nice doll, Deanna@
ReplyDeleteI already commented, but want to say, I really understand that "always a holiday behind" thing. I've worked very hard over the years to begin decorating for holidays more. Time to break out the snowmen and santas and stuff!
