Feels so good...

...to get another unfinished project done!

This steampunky gal is "Vivienne." She was nearly completed at the end of a class taught by Michele Lynch at AFICC in 2013. I don't know why it took me so long to finish her sleeves and leather cummerbund. It didn't take that long, for Pete's sake, but it sure feels good to cross it off my list!

Michele is a wonderful doll artist, so be sure to check out her art and classes!

Enjoying Life at Poolside

We've been having a great time here in San Antonio, though the hot humid weather takes some getting used to. There's nothing an Astorian can do to acclimate, that's for sure.

Chris rented a bike from one of the local bike shops, and he's been riding daily (early, before it becomes ungodly hot). I'm proud of him for doing that.

My ODACA business is done, so that leaves us some time to explore downtown San Antonio. And since I sold ALL the dolls I brought, there should be a little room in my suitcase for any cool stuff we may find.

Packing and Stuff

I've been making progress on some dolls, and packing for ODACA Day as I go. There's still a lot to do. This Suffragette Sally doll just needed a hat, and she's waiting for the glue on her "Votes for Women" sign to dry.

And this Sally needed hair and her dress finished.

I'm getting some satisfaction out of completing some unfinished dolls.

Last Minute Rush

I have just a few short days to prepare and pack for San Antonio and ODACA Day. This afternoon I finished adding hair to my latest, "Isaac" (though I might change my mind about the name). Hot glue was the glue that worked the best to attach his hair, so I hope the hot Texas temperatures don't cause a problem.

He stands about 17 inches tall.

Life Book 2014 July Lessons

I'm looking forward to getting back to my Life Book pages. My plan upon returning from the UFDC Convention / ODACA Day is to work on the current lesson and earlier lesson per week. I don't know if this is do-able, but it's worth a shot. I haven't done the math to see how long it will take to get caught up.

I have a love/hate relationship with spray inks, I think.

I enjoyed this fun, lighthearted and colorful lesson!

If I were brave, I'd have hand-lettered my quote. The tracing paper I used was not quite as translucent as I'd hoped.

Not one of my favorite lessons, but I got it done!

Happy 4th!

Happy Independence Day, everyone.

I've got the day off, and am planning to attend a parade in the small town of Warrenton this afternoon. Warrenton is about 10 minutes (or less) from Astoria. I haven't attended this parade before, but I'm going because I'll have grandson Ivan with me. We'll be meeting granddaughter Fiona and her mommy. Should be fun!
