A New Amity Doll

https://blue-heron-dolls.kit.com/posts/countdown-to-odaca-day-a-new-doll

I've been working in the studio the past few days, admittedly procrastinating (putting off making my steampunk centerpiece doll for ODACA Day). So, I went with something known to me, but not necessarily simpler due to the amount of hand work required - especially her hair.

This is "Amity" made from my pattern, reduced in size to 78% of the original. I recycled a wool cycling jersey to create her black shrug.

Her wool felt beret is pinned in place while it dries. She's just waiting for a belt and face touchup before her official photo shoot tomorrow. She will be in New Orleans this summer for ODACA Day in New Orleans.

Update: Amity is finished

One More Averill

Yesterday I finished another Averill doll. This one's just over 18 inches tall.

My Latest Santa

I took on a Christmas project fairly recently, and just finished him. He's packaged, giftwrapped, and delivered!

Old World Santa stands about 15 inches tall. I used Tibetan lamb cut from the hide for his hair and beard. Never again! I learned the hard way that loose wool locks are much easier to use.

'Tis the Season

I just finished my 2024 Christmas ornament prototype. She's about 4x4 inches in size. I'm considering reducing the size a bit, but this would probably increase the difficulty level a bit. I plan to publish the pattern, but this won't be until 2025.

Maisie

I've finally completed the doll I've been working on for months. Her name is Maisie, and just about every step was a challenge.

Newsletter #36: What Will the New Year Bring?

 https://blue-heron-dolls.ck.page/posts/what-will-the-new-year-bring

We're almost through this interesting year. Hope 2024 will be kinder for much of the world. Me? I plan to spend focusing on family, friends, and creative outlets.

Now that we've made it through Christmas, here are two dolls I couldn't reveal until after the holiday:

New "Enigma" Doll

I finished a new Enigma doll today. Her hair color is one I don't typically use, but  it seemed to suit her well. I really like how her face turned out, so may keep this one for myself.

Newsletter #30: When the Husband's Away...

https://blue-heron-dolls.ck.page/posts/when-the-husband-s-away

I finished another Amity doll yesterday - one I'd started earlier this summer. Made from hand-dyed woven fabric, her size has been reduced from the original design (78%). Her clothing is removable.

The pattern for her sweater is available on my Facebook group in the Files section:

Collette

I just finished one more doll prior to our trip to Bellevue on Monday, to attend ODACA Day. This is Collette. She may become a new pattern - haven't decided yet.
