Day of the Dead

I've been working on a Day of the Dead doll from one of the body design prototypes. This was has been quite a challenge for me! She has a Paperclay sculpted head, and the painting has been tedious.

I haven't given much thought to her costuming yet, but have lots of potential ideas.

I think her face still needs some embellishment and shading.

Experimenting with brass rod and tube to make doll removable from stand and able to sit, too. Used a larger knitting needle to make the channel. Used a smaller knitting needle that fit the size of the tube to insert the tube into the body.

Tube is inserted and nearly flush with the bottom of the doll.

Sliding the doll onto the rod.

Perfect!

Hair is done, and will be embellished with silk roses.

Her blouse and skirt are essentially done. I till need to add roses to her hair and find some black lace or netting that drapes nicely to use for her shawl.

And Liliana is done!

Pippa

This is "Pippa." She is made from one of the three design prototypes I've been working in (Pippa is number 2, but I'm not working in order).

She is a cloth-over-clay doll, and is about 13-1/2 to 14 inches tall. Her clothing is removable.

"Ruby" is the first of the three prototypes I finished (though she was prototype #3). You can see her here: http://blueherondolls.blogspot.com/2021/07/ruby.html
